About BelAroma
BelAroma is a family-owned Mediterranean bistro located just a few blocks from Canal Street in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
Our journey began with Bela Lisboa—a place where food and hospitality met with a loyal community. In early 2025, we closed that chapter and began a new one.

Now, BelAroma continues to build on that legacy of fresh, clean ingredients while blending everything we love with everything we've learned.

Rooted in European traditions and guided by a desire to nourish our local community, we create meals that bring connection, comfort, and health to the table—using ingredients we trust, preparation that reflects our values, and an environment designed to feel calm, clean, and welcoming.

The Heart Behind BelAroma
After years of successfully operating Bela Lisboa Restaurant, Jo and Anca Vagos found themselves ready for a new chapter. What began as thoughts of stepping back from the restaurant industry quickly transformed into an opportunity to refine and reimagine everything they had learned—this time with a clearer vision focused on simplicity, quality, and balance.

Rooted in their Portuguese heritage and decades of culinary experience, they created BelAroma as an evolution of their life's work. The name combines bela, the Portuguese word for beautiful, with aroma, reflecting their belief that exceptional food should engage all the senses—from the inviting scents of fresh herbs and slow-cooked dishes to the visual beauty of a thoughtfully prepared plate.

Their commitment to integrity runs deep. Every dish at BelAroma is made from scratch using filtered water, organic and non-GMO ingredients, and traditional European cooking methods. Seed oils have been eliminated entirely, replaced with healthier alternatives. They prioritize grass-fed meats, fresh microgreens, and sustainable sourcing practices that align with their values.

The intimate dining room holds just a dozen tables, designed intentionally to create a calm, welcoming atmosphere with soft lighting and natural acoustics. The smaller space allows them to maintain the balance they've worked hard to achieve while still serving their community with care and attention to detail.
