New Smyrna Beach restaurant opens under former Bela Lisboa owners

NEW SMYRNA BEACH — For a couple who once wondered if the chapter had closed for good, the answer arrives in sound. The soft thud of a blade against wood, vegetables and fresh herbs chopped by hand, the familiar cadence of service beginning again — proof that even after nine months away, Jo and Anca Vagos could never truly leave the kitchen.

BelAroma Mediterranean Bistro is the latest tenant of 318 N. Dixie Freeway in New Smyrna Beach, a 10-mile trip down the road from the owners' former Bela Lisboa Restaurant, which they sold in April ahead of their semi-retirement.
